Why this platform was built

Burgmann has a world class alumni network. Our community is comprised of professionals in many different fields and is characterised by a relentless striving towards excellence. I felt this the first time I arrived at Burgmann and through dozens of interviews I conducted with alumni it was consistently identified as our defining feature. I have never experienced anything like it and I wanted to capture and distill this spirit of excellence through this project.

What does this platform offer

This app is fundamentally different from all existing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). It has been designed specifically for the Burgmann community with no vested commercial interests and so brings with it specialised functionality that you will not find anywhere else.

There are three main capabilities which this platform offers:

1 - Curated stories and experiences from the Burgmann Community

Read exclusive content from prominent alumni, rediscover old stories from the past, stay up to date with Burgmann news, see how our college has evolved and share your passions and expertise with the wider community.

2 - An AI powered address book to form new connections

Reconnect with old friends from college, form new contacts, find people with like-minded interests and learn about new people.

3 - An open discussion forum for all things Burgmann

Hear important news and events, stay up to date with real-time college developments, share your thoughts and interact with other Alumni.

Privacy

This might not seem important but it is by far one of the most important features of this platform

Conventional social networks make money by harvesting and selling your information. They invest heavily in artificial intelligence as a way of manipulating their users. This might be the first social network you have used in your life which isn’t trying to exploit you.

You can share as much or as little about yourself on this platform as you like. Any information which you choose to share is used solely to enrich our community not to extract any commercial value.

This is a non-commercial social network which exists for the betterment of its users and which respects your privacy.
